This mission trip will start with a conference of Pastors and leaders from Malawi where we will explore the development of non church business, unite Malawians to Americans so prayer support and advise can have a pathway to flow. We will also visit Mzuzu, a city in Northern Malawi, the home of Upendo Children’s Village. There you will meet orphans and gain wisdom to help you understand techniques to improve future generations of children. We welcome everyone who desires to lend a helping hand to develop this nation of God’s children and destitute widows. Details are provided on the following pages of this mission website. A video overview is available at
Malawi is a land-locked developing country in South-East Africa. It has been ravaged by HIV/AIDS and poverty leaving many orphaned children in the country along with destitute widows. Normal christian culture would have local churches called to care for orphans and widows but in the midst of poverty most Malawian churches are powerless and government resources are simply unable or unwilling to assist.
Malawians are proud people who do not desire hand-outs but they need help. Help, not in giving the fish but teaching how to fish.
Our hosts, while we are in Malawi, will be Bishop Samuel Mkisi and his wife Florence who started a church called Church on the Wings 20 years ago. It has grown with branches throughout the nation. The Mkisi’s also started Upendo Children’s Village in the northern city of Mzuzu, caring for children and destitute widows. More recently, they have built a school to teach the children in a christian manner. They have done all this by combining their non-church income plus charity from America.
What is our role in all of this? This mission trip is the beginning of efforts to bring the Malawi church Pastors and Leaders a source of knowledge, prayer support, and connections so they can grow to be self-sufficient using ideas shared and cultivated by good old American knowledge in starting small business and developing techniques and practices for the extended care of orphans and widows.
